You have done a good job of separating them martin. I myself probably would not have attacked the background so much only because you have devoted the majority of your photo to sky and clouds and then blurred it and this conflicts with the crisp foreground. This is of course my personal preference. If you like the effect then a square crop might help more. Did you try the shot shooting f8 or less.
Martin: Point well taken. The original picture lacked depth, which I tried to correct by blurring the background. Next time I'll remember to try a wider aperture. Thanks for the feedback. Much appreciated!
