I am really milking this spot for pictures to post. Last weekend Clint and I went down to Galveston to look for some night shots and stopped here on the way. The snaggletoothed fence in the foreground convinced me to post this version instead of one with more dramatic sky, but no fence.

Its not the sky that stands out for me, but the tree and the water in the distance. The sharpness is absolutely stunning.

Martin: No, Sir. I don't do sunrises. That time of the day is for sleeping, not taking pictures. This is a sunset. I hope that doesn't make you change your mind about the shot smile

You're making me look bad. I didn't get one with the fence. Heck, I didn't even notice the fence. Nice shot.
Martin: No, I am not! There is always more than one good shot available. The fence is certainly not essential. I was simply looking for a shot with some different elements so as not to repeat my other shot from this site.

The lighting on this shot makes it spectacular, Martin, especially on the fence posts. It takes my breath away! The only thing I find myself doing is trying to straighten the horizon, or is that an illusion that it's not straight?
Martin: Busted! Twice! By you! For the same issue with essentially the same shot too. I'll have to go to remedial horizon-straightening class grin

I really should have straightened the horizon in both of these pictures. The land does slope up a little in that direction, but not as much as in the photos. Maybe that's why it doesn't look off to me until somebody calls me on it. Thanks for sorting me out here! Much appreciated.

Martin: Thank you, Regis! Houston is so famous for being ugly that it is surprising to hear some part of it called beautiful smile I do like that spot myself, though.

OK, so I'm sitting here wondering what it is that makes this picture looks special. I think it's because there are layers that lead the eye through to the back of the picture. First the fence on the left, then those wonderful dark and shiny pools of water with the tussocks of reeds that get smaller the further away they are, and then that glorious sunset.
