Midnight Oil

Late at night on the University of Houston campus some research is getting done. The main advantage of visiting at night is that the 60s and 70s architecture doesn't looks quite so appalling.

Thank you very much for all the constructive comments yesterday! It is very  helpful to find out what works and what doesn't.

Have a great weekend!

I have to agree - 60s and 70s architecture can only be appreciated when you can barely see it! Nice capture.

The hint of trees captured by the light and their leaves trapped in the light at the window..the contrast between the top of the building and the sky..and the lights from the window make this lonesome and beautiful.

I doubt I ever would have thought to take this shot, Martin, perhaps cos I have not suffered like you have from over-exposure to the University's appalling architecture.
I am glad you too it, though, because I find it to be a fascinating study in the textures of the witching hour.

You do really have a good eye Man... A fine shot man !
Wonderful shot Martin. I like it a lot, reminds me of the René Magritte painting L'Empire des Lumieres

Light from the high window between the two trees as sentinels. Branches silouette against the sky. Finally light from the side models the trees and adds detail to the grass. Complex situation captured and controlled perfectly. sublime. A likey for me.
And here..a student very busy!!
Fantastic shot Martin - I can only echo Blackdog's comments. You have managed to keep a range of tones, in difficult lighting conditions. I love the enigmatic feel to this - what is going on behind the lit windows?

I can imagine being outside in the cold and looking up at a welcoming light from a warm room. I think I'll go and turn the central heating up. Nice shot Martin
Very creative composition, a great one !
