Spring

Thank you very much for all the thoughtful comments yesterday. I greatly appreciate your feedback. It gives me much to think about and sheds quite a bit of light on why yesterday's shot got such an uneven reception. Please feel free to keep the substantive feedback coming, although I fully realize that it is way too much work to do this all the time.

Here is something a bit different for today. The title probably only makes sense to those of you who live in colder climates. I my case that is just a memory, but I don't think anyone ever quite forgets how it feels when a cold winter is coming to an end.

I like the photo and the title, and I do know the feeling. Though... my response to the chill of early spring is to ditch the coat, but keep the gloves.

This is different from you indeed. Excellent way to welcome spring.

We don't have extreme cold, just cold. But in our winter all the green is gone and leaving a tawny field behind. No rain and everything is dusty and plant materials turn to dust. At the end of the winter you can see all the particles in the air at sunset. It is as depressing - just in a different way.

We had a jingle on tv - come on summer, come on!

Martin! Oh now this is for me-- the hand moving tentatively out from under the arm of the heavy dark jacket into the light--so symbolic. Likey!

I like this a lot - great clarity and detail and a picture which makes you think. Good stuff.

The hand does not look cold...perhaps it has been gloved, and the person who belongs to the hand is just tentatively checking the atmosphere?
I'm sure this says different things to different people ... but it sure does say a lot. richard

Good one martin all been said but like the way you use the black of the page to good advantage too. Turned 90 degrees clockwise it would almost be beckoning the viewer in.
instead of that "its soon to be cozy feeling" because it will soon be spring - i get a bit of a creepy feeling. Sorta like the hand it just waiting to GRAB ME! EEEEEK! i'm running away now.

Who'd have thought such a simple sort of picture would be so astonishing.

I for one can't wait til Spring, Martin! Very symbolic, using hand and long sleeves.

After Hawaii, it is especially difficult to come back to colder temps and rain.

I was even looking at air fares for Hawaii in April...but since I'm tied to my job for income, that's not a reality.
