Playground
An abandoned factory provides a suitable playground for kids of all ages including skateboarders and photographers.
I rarely take people shots or blurry shots or action shots, but this one fits in all three categories. I know that better separation between the person and the background would have been desirable, but I would value your feedback on how this could be improved in other ways. Reshooting is certainly an option as neither the factory nor the skateboarders are likely to go away any time soon.

Oh, how fun, Martin. Something different from you! This is reminding me of something...a painting? I can't really answer your question about how to improve this because I like it as is!
It is nice to see a different shot from you Martin, but it still has your touch. Grunge, blue and maybe rusty walls.
If I had taken this I would have cropped a bit tighter and checked out how it would look in B&W. But that would not necessarily improved it.
I think you were a bit wimpish, Martin...should have been laying down flat at the head of the ramp so that the wheels of the board passed within about 20cm of the end of the lens. [grin]
Great action shot, Martin. I like the way the colours on the figure sort of match the colours in the distance.
I really like this Martin. Great action shot. I can't see any improvement to bring here!
Love the "action" of this one!
Really wild
Martin, great stuf here, it could be Jeroen (my son) and Harmen (the two today in the reflection of the Zündapp) they are real great on the skateboards.
I love this action shot, great colours!!
If you didnt use it you could try slow sync flash, this would lighten the subject more than the background and/or you can use a long shutter speed to blur the background more but still get blur and freez the boarder. An example - http://nigelclack.shutterchance.com/photoblog/Rather_you_than_me!_/
I find this picture quite interesting as it is, with the skateboard nearly in focus.
About the question - it all depends what you want to do - will determine what to do. Freeze the guy in the air with the rest blurred, will require a parallel panning approach and much faster shutter. Going for a blurry, just crop tighter (less wide than 15mm). I think it can make a great blurry. The third option is to have everything else in focus and allow the skater to move through a slowish shuttered view. This is the one I think would be real good.
Really nice action shot!!! Beautiful colors and effect too.
LOL - great ection shot!
Whew, what action!
Oh! A kind of shot I plan to do.
This one is beautiful. Try to place you in face of the subject. You can find an outdoor skateboarder site. Such site will permit faster shutter times.
Martin, I don't know how you could have made this any better...but I"m sure that a SC'er will lend helpful advice as we always do!
Love the lines going int he same direction as the skateboarder. It looks lkike they're flying in the air - very dimensional. Good image.
difficult sbject ! i have to do it too....
We can feel speed ! great!
lovely shot Martin
Interesting action shot.I like the blurry style.
I love this shot! I like Nigel's suggestion about the slow sync flash; it would separate the boarder from the background.
