The Bastion
I am spending a few days in West Texas to get away from the office, the internet, and the daily grind. In the meantime, here is a view of my favorite building in downtown Houston. I hope you will agree that this one is from the dry powder bin.
I'll be back on Monday. Have a wonderful weekend!

Again, a nice shot. This one and the one before have been very interesting in terms of processing. I'm not sure what you're doing, but they have this strange, very dramatic look to them. Very cool.
Strong! Looks pretty dry to me.
I want the building to continue up to a point.
an architectural likey, I not only love the way it points the the amrvelous sky, but indeed your processing and light are very special, love the perspective and composition too
Martin I am not familiar with the expression, but when I saw this picture, I loved it at once, I don't have those buildings close by, I am impressed by the majestic look, love the angle, the sky and the color of the building, this is a very strong picture. Hope you will have a great time in Texas and that you find what you are looking for.
You know I love images like this, Martin, and often try to replicate them! I especially love lowering skies with attitude (even if they're NOT in the original!) and in this building, the architect sure had fun planning those "rectangle" cutouts!
Have a wonderful get-away!
Martin: Thanks, Ginnie! The sky is the original, just processed separately from the building. IMO this is the best skyscraper in Houston. The architect surely had fun designing it.
Nice building, it is a shame we don't have that high buildings in the Netherlands
This is good, I like the clean lines and the PP
Excellent - the angle shows the cutouts very well. LOve it when you dig around in the bin.
To things I am wondering about - the middle pane below the lowest cutout has a black thing - maybe dirt on the lens? Same cutout lower left a white thing peeking around the corner. Otherwise I will look for a building that fits and try this angle.
I love the drama you have created with your processing. It looks like something from a dark, sc-fi film. (:o)
Beautiful dramatic capture. Looks like a stela to me!
An impressive edifice! I like the neck-craning POV.
Ingrid
Lovely perspective ...
I don't know what you mean by the dry powder bin, but I like this.
Martin: Thanks, Ruth! I was babbling on about wanting to keep some powder dry and therefore having to post from the damp powder bin a few days ago. This is some of the dry powder referenced back then. Of course this doesn't make a whole lot of sense to anyone who hasn't seen the other posts. I'll try to make the write-up more self-contained going forward.
Great perspective of this huge building. The sky is interesting and certainly adds to this photo. Enjoy your time away!!
It's powerful looking. Wow.
The perspective is GREAT.
Love the picture Martin the sky and the dramatic angle. Why you like the building is lost on me. Looks like any other Lego building to me
Strong clean lines Martin ... and this sort of shooting angle always adds that extra ingredient. richard

Have a good break Martin - it's no country for old men ;o)
