The Edge of Space
Call it an experiment. I took this shot with something like this in mind, executed the plan, and ended up with a result that I like one minute and hate the next. One of the many good things about SC is that we can put these experiments out there to get feedback. I'd appreciate yours if you have the time!

I like it a lot. An evocative image - and a good title.
I like it. It has a few levels of complexity despite the relatively simple composition. The texture, range of colors, and lines are all great.
The tittle is well choosen, love the colors, the composition is good, to me that are 'space' colors, the texture, I try to figure it out what it is, I see ISO 1600.
To say it very short...I like it, it is the edge of space.
Way cool, Dude!
Faintly reminiscent of a "moonshot" I posted a couple of weeks back...but yours is somewhat more subtle and competent.
I like the shot. It's full of interesting texture and light. And it definitely leads me to think carefully about what I might be seeing.
Rosy blue? A new colour.
I guess this is some kind of a macro. The composition is excellent and there is some illusionary trick in there. The two objects - the one moment one is nearer and then the other. I guess the only negative is the grain. The objects (by the colour and planed look) give the impression of something metallic and then I would think it should be smooth (no grain) and sort of a glossy feel to it. On the other hand grain can be associated with outer space.
This does look very astronomical, martin. Great fun.
I don't know how you did this Martin but was certainly worth doing. There is a definite edge-of-space feel about it
I like it alot, colour, composition, grain gives the impression of movement, and like Louis says one is near and then the other. What the hell is it??
I have no idea how you did this Martin but it is a fascinating image. If I was being picky, the lack of any detail bottom right? Or is that my monitor?
Infinity and beyond Martin, what a cool idea and well executed
Apart from the fact your title fits perfecttly this beautiful and original composition, what I find interesting is that the upper part of the picture seems concave, and a few seconds later it seems convex! Mind you I might have vision problems!
I try to see what it is?!! But i love the colours and the amazing shape. Its a great capture!!
Well, I haven't a clue what it is but that certainly doesn't matter. It is an interesting image, more like a painting than a photograph. I like the simple composition and textures but find the colours a bit in your face!
Ingrid
One minute I am looking over an edge the next I am looking at a planet!
The capture of the texture and colour is very good
Viscious violet .... a real eye-opener. richard
Well, I've no idea what I'm looking at, or at what scale, but it is certainly an image which raises all sorts of associations. My first thought, even without the title, was something astronomical, but then I wondered if it was a detail of carved stone, or a landscape feature like a sand dune. I don't think any of these quite fit, so perhaps you will reveal the experimental procedure?
I think you can tell by the comments the experiment succeeded. The objects look like metal or maybe concrete.
an experiment eh, well keep going Martin as its a fabulous image m8
I don't feel it's beautiful, but that's only my oppinion. But it is interesting! I've spent several minutes watching it, trying to figure out what a heck it is. I also had a hard time to figure out if the "top circle" is concave or convex.
So, to put it short; Beautiful? No. Good? Absolutely!
I feel dizzy . . . in a good way.
Love it: experimental stuff is always worth the effort in my opnion!
Browsing back through your images and knowing what this is before seeing it makes a big difference in my perception of it. I love the composition and the colours. Fantastic capture.
It's outstanding, really. So abstract..
Now I'd love to hear more of explanation of what it is and how you got those colors. |
